I analyse complex institutional decisions through two complementary lenses: ethical analysis—what is at stake, where responsibility lies, what a defensible course of action looks like—and anthropological analysis—how culture, power, and informal logic actually shape decisions on the ground. The work is practical and decision-oriented, not legal compliance review. Most engagements draw on both lenses at once.
Bioethical Consulting
Bioethical consultancy for complex medical and organisational decisions, including surgical ethics, irreversible interventions, and contested questions of autonomy and responsibility. Work includes ethics committee support, independent ethical review or second opinion, and case-based analysis where clinical judgement, institutional authority, and personal agency intersect.
This work draws on fifteen years of research in body integrity dysphoria and on-demand amputation, and on published scholarship in the ethics of contested and irreversible surgical intervention.
Outputs include written ethics opinions, advisory memoranda, and governance-facing briefings.
Anthropological Consulting
Anthropological analysis of how culture, power, and decision-making operate within organisations. In medical contexts: psychiatric practice, diagnostic cultures, moral distress, and breakdowns in care. In corporate and institutional settings: informal influence, the distribution of responsibility, internal friction, and organisational vulnerability, the logics that govern decisions but rarely appear in formal protocols.
Deliverables include analytical reports, institutional assessments, and targeted workshops or briefings.
AI Ethics Consulting
Ethical analysis of AI systems with a focus on autonomy, responsibility, accountability, and human oversight. The work is practical and decision-oriented, not legal compliance-driven, and is suited to leadership teams, governance bodies, and operational stakeholders.
Engagements include ethical risk and impact assessments, advisory reports, and workshops focused on ethical judgement and responsibility in AI-supported decision-making.
